Counselling with SomeOne Cares - Someone Cares

We offer you a caring counselling service with your safety, security and peace of mind as our priority. Our counsellors have varied life experiences and backgrounds, many specialise in the area of abuse and are experts in this field. You can find out a little more about some of them here. Our counsellors follow a written code of conduct and work within our equal opportunities policy.

Why is our counselling free?

Abuse affects each one of us differently and tackling it requires great courage from you. Our counsellors give their time for free because they are committed to improving the help available to those who have suffered abuse. SomeOne Cares does not deny any abuse survivor access to our services. Your ability to pay is not important to us - when you need us, we will be there.

About a counselling session

Counselling sessions usually last an hour and take place once a week. At your first session your counsellor will explain more about our counselling contract and about how things might progress. You can ask questions and talk about any worries that you might have about the counselling process.

Sessions will always move at your pace. You will not be rushed or forced to talk about anything that you are not comfortable with. What you do talk about is up to you. It is your time. Your counsellor will have strategies to help you work through difficult or painful thoughts and recollections as you feel ready to explore them.

You will not shock or upset your counsellor. You will never be judged. We will work with you to create an effective counselling relationship where you feel you can talk openly and above all where you feel secure and valued.

SomeOne Cares does not put a limit on the number of sessions you can have. You will decide with your counsellor when you feel ready to move on.
