Our Patron - Philippa Tomson - Someone Cares
Our patron is Philippa Tomson, from ITV Tyne Tees.
Originally from York, Philippa trained as a newspaper journalist before making the leap into television. She joined ITV Central based in the West Midlands where she worked in all areas of television news including producing, presenting and reporting. She was also a freelance presenter on the 24-hour ITV News Channel.
In August 2006 she was offered the job of co-presenting North East Tonight and left the Midlands to move to the North East. She then made the move over to presenting the weather.
Philippa lives in Gateshead on the edge of the Northumberland countryside. Away from the cameras she loves being outdoors with her dog, skiing, running, reading and helping to support many charities in the region including SomeOne Cares.
In 2009, Philippa took part in the Great North Run to raise funds and awareness for SomeOne Cares. She completed the run in a very impressive time and raised over £3000 to support our vital work.
